Scripture mentions only one man before the time of Noah
and the flood who responded by faith to God's love and
became his friend. Blessed Enoch took time to grow in the
knowledge and love of his heavenly Father and was taken
directly into god's presence at the end of his earthly life
without seeing death: He "walked with God, and he was not;
for God took him." Such was God's desire for his friend.

Scripture carefully declares that God has not cast away his
chosen people, Israel, though they rejected their Messiah at
his first coming. When He comes again the Lord says He will
"pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of
Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will
look on Me whom they have pierced; they will mourn for
Him as one mourns for his only son..." Zechariah 12:10

Regarding Luke 21:19, "In your patience possess your souls"
(NKJV) "The probable meaning is 'ye shall gain mastery
over your souls.'"- I am glad to say that both of my parents, who are now deceased, are with the Lord. Though my father never understood and lived in the fullness of a personal relationship with him, he had received Jesus Christ as a teenager and truly loved him all his days. Through God's wonderful grace my mother, who died unexpectedly in her late forties, also received Jesus as her Lord and Savor just ten days before her death.
